Story

Minas Gerais, Matas de Minas Region

Minas Gerais is the largest coffee-growing state in Brazil, accounting for about 55% of Brazil's total production. Apart from most of the African producers who usually have only a few hectares, the typical Brazilian farms range anywhere from 10 to 100 hectares.

Matas de Minas Region is a renowned coffee-growing region in southeastern Brazil, located in the state of Minas Gerais near the borders of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo. Known for its mountainous terrain and ideal climate, the region produces some of the country’s finest specialty coffees. The rich soils and high altitudes contribute to the beans' unique flavour profiles, which are often characterised by bright acidity, balanced sweetness, and complex aromas.
